Installation Guide for Ultimate License Plate Frame

    Remove License Plate from Car

    Unscrew license plate from car.

Helpful Tip: If your car has plastic inserts for the screws sometimes the screw gets stuck in them and they turn preventing the screw from coming out. The simplest way to fix this is to take a small slot screwdriver and push into the small opening in the license plate where the screw is and hold the plastic insert against the direction you are turning while you unscrew the main screw. Be careful not to scratch your car!

    Ready Plate for Re-Attaching

Clean both sides of license plate with soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly.

Choose either the 6mm or 9mm foam cushions and stick one piece beside each hole and near the outer edge of the license plate.

Helpful Tip: The 6mm foam will have the license plate frame fit tight to the car body when you tighten the screws. This is optimal however the 9mm foam can be used if you wish for a bit of space between the frame and the car. If you have only two holes to attach the plate to your car we recommend the 6mm foam. If you do use the 9mm foam on a two hole license plate attachment, only snug the screws slightly as over tightening will cause the bottom of the plate to extend out more than the top. If you wish to experiment you can always start with the 6mm and if it fits the way you want then all is good. If you wish to try the 9mm don’t remove the 6mm. Just stick the 9mm on the other side of the hole near the outer edge on the back of the license plate. You can always peel the 9mm off if it’s too much and you will still have the 6mm still on the plate.

    Two Holes or Four Holes

If your car only has two holes to attach your license plate, complete this step. If it has four holes to attach your license plate, skip to Step 4.

In order to cover the holes where the car doesn’t have a place to put screws, you will need two of the 8mm screws (shortest in the package), four washers, two of the low profile lock nuts and two screw cap washers.

Put one of the screws through two of the flat washers then through a screw cap washer so that the head of the screw fits inside of the washer.

Fit the license plate into the new license plate frame from the back.

From the front put the screw, with the washers and screw cap washer on it, through the hole in the license plate frame and the license plate and put the lock nut on the screw from the back of the plate. Leave slightly loose and repeat for the other hole.

Align the license plate evenly inside of the frame and tighten both snuggly. Do not over tighten.

    Attaching to the Car

Before putting the license plate on, decide which screws will be appropriate for use on your car. You may choose to use the screws that came with your car as they will for sure fit or you can choose from the stainless steel screws included in the accessory package which match the size and thread style of your car. Test the new screws before putting the license plate on and never force the screw into the hole if it does not fit easily.

Put one of the screws through the screw cap washer so that the head of the screw fits inside of the washer.

Fit the license plate into the license plate frame from the back if you have not done Step 3.

From the front, put the screw, with the screw cap washer on it, through the hole in the license plate frame and tighten it into the hole in the car. Leave slightly loose and repeat for the other holes.

Align the license plate evenly inside of the license plate frame and on the car and then tighten snuggly. Do not over tighten.

    Put on the Screw Caps

Take four of the screw caps and snap them over the top of the screw cap washers.

Helpful Tip: If you ever need to remove a screw cap cover, twisting and pulling with your fingers should work. If they are on very tight you can take a thin slot screw driver and very gently push it under the edge of the screw cap making sure not to scratch the license plate frame. You can even put a very thin cloth over the screw driver when you do this although you will need to apply a little force to get an edge under the cap. Twist and repeat for the other side of the screw cap.

    Give it a polish!

Repeat for your front license plate if your jurisdiction requires this.

Helpful Tip: The front license plate may not need the foam cushions if it has a specialized license plate holder placed on the front bumper. Always test placement before attaching.
